Wellassa, that means one hundred thousand paddy fields, extended in the middle part of the uva province, is absolutely certain that had been the original meritorious territory  which nurtured the dignity of the great civilization of -HELA BIMA – Sri Lanka, since prehistoric era until it became a British colony.

                Starting from the king PANDUKABHAYA through – out the history of sir Lanka, to the reign of king WALAGAMBA , those who united the country were heroic sons of WELLASSA.

                The great kingdoms of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa were empowered and strengthened by Wellassa.

                But after the independence struggle in 1818 the environment was turned upside down

                The “British” responded to the warriors of wellassa who fought off them. They revenged annihilating, and devastating the economy, culture religion and things places and persons connected with religion of wellassa people.

                The harm coursed by this devastation was continued by the Black rulers who took over the country after the British throughout generations'.

                Owing to continuation of the British procedure by Sri Lankan rulerswellassa has been known as follows today.

·         Wellassa is the poorest area in Sri Lanka.

·         It is the area that has the minimum number of educated and wise people.

·         It is the most difficult area in sir Lanka

·         The area of the lowest in come per head.

What the British did to destroy our great culture are.

·         Deprived Sinhala people from the temple

·         under estimated the nation of Sinhala and their cultural activities

·         offered high ranks, higher posts, higher evaluation in the society to the people who followed them (even nowadays how many people are there who are ashamed to speak Sinhala)

·         Pushed the western culture in to our lives and destroyed our great emotional qualities existed to more than thousand years.

·         Stranded Sinhalese in western education system and among western thoughts and demolished our people’s own way of thinking, so that they might be turned to think as dependent nation.

·         Our self-sufficient economic system was turned upside down through introducing their methods of cultivations, chemicals and fertilizer and made Sri Lanka a dependentcountry.

·         Still Sri Lankans are suffering the environmental damages they did in our country.  

What should we doto get rid of this curse.

·         It is necessary to conceive Imperialists' that the Sinhalese  are dignified nation, through the long history of it

·         Self-sufficiency should be regained.

·         Buddhists should be re-collected into temples.

·         Humanity and good qualities of life should be re – built among the people.

At least At this moment, as it completes 199 years after the wellasse liberation struggle in 2017 we must be stood up.

We “INDRAKHEELAWELLASSE HANDA” (the voice of wellassa ) are marching forward to implement the mission of awakening the Heroic sons of wellassa.

Our Ambition -:

                To take necessary steps to regain our national, religious and cultural dignity that was harmed during the wellassa annihilation and after that and takes steps to rebuild Sinhala generation.

Our Objectives -:

·         To regenerate Sinhala Nationality and the Buddhist hood.

·         To develop and protect the places of cultural heritage in wellassa.

·         To develop the economy of the ordinary people of wellassa.

·         To implement socialwelfareactivities wanted by the people.

·         To preserve land and environment.

·         To propagate the voice and the regaining programme started from wellassa all over the is land
